Trauma is the emotional response one feels when a terrible incident like an accident, natural disaster, or assault happens. The incident triggers shock and denial Immediately after incident. There can be long-term reactions that you carry in your nervous system that are triggered by internal and external ques i.e., overwhelming emotions, flashbacks, complicated relationships, and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. While the reaction to the incident is a normal one, the effects are not easy to carry and work through on our own.
Trauma can disrupt our daily functioning, leading to conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or somatic conditions. Recovery can begin by making that phone call. You can put yourself together and let those who beat you not defeat you!
Even though you’ve been through horrific things it doesn’t have to stay as a life-altering disorder. There is treatment with support and patience, it is absolutely possible to process this pain and build a life where you feel safe and hopeful again.
